Jensten Group to acquire technology broker Venture Risks

Jensten Group is set to buy Venture Risks Group (VRG), a broker concentrating on technology, after reaching a deal. The deal is slated for October 2026 and will bolster Jensten Group’s tech, media, cyber, and life sciences division.
The acquisition will enhance Jensten Group’s specialist capabilities across professional indemnity, cyber, and technology-related risks. It will also extend the company’s footprint into Cambridge, adding to its existing presence in London, Bristol, the Thames Valley, and Birmingham.
Gareth Birch, chief executive of broking at Jensten Group, said: “Specialty is a core part of our growth plan and VRG is exactly the kind of business we want to partner with. Technically strong, entrepreneurial, and built on long-standing client relationships.” He added that the acquisition “adds real depth to our tech, media, cyber, and life sciences division and strengthens the proposition we can take to clients right across the group.”

The deal aligns closely with Jensten Group’s strategy of investing in specialist businesses that complement its existing operations and strengthen sector expertise. Following completion of the transaction, VRG will continue to trade under its existing brand.
John McLaren-Stewart, chief executive at VRG, said: “Joining Jensten Group is an exciting next step for our business. We have built VRG around specialist knowledge, strong client relationships, and a commitment to excellent service.” He noted that becoming part of Jensten Group provides a fantastic platform for future growth while ensuring clients continue to receive the expertise and support they value.
The acquisition is part of Jensten Group’s efforts to build specialist capabilities across a range of commercial insurance sectors, with technology and cyber risks remaining key areas of focus as demand for specialist advice grows. They are looking to expand their presence in emerging sectors, similar to other recent investments in the industry.
