University of Nicosia academics ranked globally

The University of Nicosia has achieved a new milestone with 25 of its academics included in the world’s most influential scientists ranking. The ranking, published by Stanford University, recognizes the top 2% of scientists globally.
The list, titled “Updated science-wide author databases of standardised citation indicators,” is produced by Elsevier in collaboration with Professor John Ioannidis of Stanford University. It assesses scientific impact across 20 major scientific fields and 174 specialized subfields.
UNIC Scientists Recognized
Twenty-two University of Nicosia academics feature in the single-year ranking for 2025, while 15 are included in the career-long ranking. Twelve academics are recognized in both rankings.
The recognized academics come from various schools within the University, including the School of Life and Health Sciences, School of Business, and Medical School. They include Professor Andreou, Eleni P., Professor Antonakakis, Nikolaos, and Professor Arulkumaran, Sabaratnam.

Research Excellence
The University of Nicosia’s position in global academia is reinforced by this achievement, and its growing influence in international research communities is clear. The University’s presence on the prestigious list has increased from 20 to 22 researchers in the single-year ranking.
The University’s strong academic standing is also reflected in its recent recognition among the world’s Top 501-550 universities in the 2027 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. This significant expansion in UNIC’s presence on the prestigious list shows the University’s growing influence in international research communities.
